New Survey Shows Most Americans are Missing the Nutrition Opportunity in Snacking
Bel U.S. Champions Purpose*Full Snacking to Help Close the Gap

Chicago, IL – [August 25, 2025] – According to a new Purpose*Full Snacking Behavior Survey commissioned by Bel U.S. and conducted by Eat Well Global among 1,000 nationally representative U.S. adults, 72% of Americans are focused on “being healthy and eating well,” yet 68% fail to use snacking as an opportunity to meet their dietary goals.
Developed with input from five Registered Dietitians, the survey showed that 91% of the U.S. adults surveyed snack every day, driven primarily by hunger, cravings, or the desire for something tasty, but health and nutrition considerations often take a backseat in their snacking decisions. As a result, more than two thirds of Americans are overlooking snack-time as a key opportunity to contribute to their health and nutrition goals.
“The results of this survey show that although Americans want to make healthier choices in their diet, they don’t view snacking as part of that journey,” says Umo Callins, MS, RD, CSSD, CPT. “As a registered dietitian, I see a major opportunity to show how snacking, when done intentionally, can be a powerful tool for better, more balanced nutrition. The fact that it’s not even on most people’s radar highlights a real gap in how we talk about balanced nutrition and an opportunity to shift the conversation.”
At a time when 8 in 10 Americans fall short of eating adequate amounts of fruits, vegetables, and dairy,1 Bel U.S. is on a mission to champion Purpose*Full Snacking: helping bridge the nutrition gap and empowering Americans to snack with more intention. Its portfolio—including The Laughing Cow®, Mini Babybel®, and GoGo squeeZ®—offers convenient, portion-sized and nourishing snacks that provide joy and help support a balanced diet.
“As a mission-driven company with 160 years of innovation and social impact, Bel is committed to do its part in helping close the nutrition gap in the American diet,” says Paloma Lopez, Chief Sustainability and Communications Officer for Bel U.S. “We want to invite registered dietitians, chefs and others working in the food sector to join us in transforming snacking into a force for good.”
Bel U.S.’s snacks are designed to meet busy lifestyles, offering delicious on-the-go options like pairing Mini Babybel® cheese with grapes, spreading The Laughing Cow® on whole-grain toast with cucumber, or grabbing a GoGo squeeZ® pouch on the go.
